Calling the MoP: come to the Terry Fox Run

Kate Aley

Sunday 17, 2017.

When I was a know-nothing student in Australia, we were shown the Terry Fox T.V. movie (The Terry Fox Story, 1983) for religion class....

As I knew nothing about almost anything at the time, I didn't even understand it was all true.

Now I know a few more things and now Terry Fox is and will always be my true hero.

Please honour the memory of this remarkable young man and his astonishing feat: the fundraising event that has no end.

As always, the Pontiac's Terry Fox Run is on

Sunday, September 17th

Pontiac High School, 455 Maple Street, Shawville.

Registration is at 1 p.m.

(This involves bringing in your donation and getting a nice sticker and thinking about someone you might be there 'for' and general milling around.)

The start is at 2 p.m.

Ex- PHS phys. ed. teacher and local legend John Petty has been organizing this event since forever. He stresses that, although the "run" is a pleasant 10 km loop along smooth quiet roads, it is not a competition; you don't have to actually run and you don't have to actually do the 10 km.

But he DOES want you to come and start, to have everyone head off together as a huge group filled with happy optimism and eager laughter; a beautiful uplifting mass of old, young, babies, bikes, roller blades, legs and feet.

Terry Fox loved life. It's something to be part of what his life has become known for.

Please attend the 2017 Pontiac TFR.

There will be delicious orange slices served afterwards.
