An early morning fire completely destroyed a barn on a farm located at 2002 route 148 (chemin Eardley) in the Luskville sector in the Municipality of Pontiac Monday.

Les Service de sécurité incendie de Pontiac recieved the call at around 7:30 am alerting them to the fire which had already formed a plume of smoke several hundred feet high.  Once on the scene, firefighters depolyed water resevoirs and pumper trucks within minutes at the front and rear of the property to battle the blaze.

Luckily, there were no animals reported in the structure and no one was injured in the fire.  The building had been used mostly to store hay, sealing the fate of the barn and forcing Pontiac Fire to fight to contain the flames to stop the fire from spreading to two other barns located feet away from the site of the conflagration.  Les Service de sécurité incendie de Pontiac requested material aid from Chelsea's fire department in the form of an auxilary tanker truck to aid in keeping the pumper trucks supplied with a constant supply of water.

By 10 am the blaze was fully under control with no further damage to any of the other buildings on the property and a backhoe was brought in to aid in extinguishing the fire.

The cause of the fire and the cost of damages is still to be determined.
