Get Art teacher Tanya McCormick, wearing some of her unique copper jewelry
Believe it or not, all of us have a naturally creative streak and these free art classes, hosted by the Municipality of Pontiac, are the perfect opportunity to dig into it. Next in our roster of Get Art teachers is Tanya McCormick who will be teaching on Saturday, October 27th at the Luskville Community Centre.
She's presenting flexible, intense alcohol-based inks swirled onto a crazy plastic kind of surface called Yupo paper. It's quite the art form!
Pontiac2020.ca: How did you learn about the inks you are teaching?
Tanya McCormick: I have always loved to experiment with different mediums while developing my own art, so when I saw people using ink to create stunning abstract paintings, I was instantly in love. I picked up some inks at my local art supply store and spent a month discovering, creating and experimenting with different papers, colour combinations and pouring mediums to help my inks flow.

P2020: What will students take home from your class?
TMcC: Students will create a patterned piece of paper that will be transformed into two greeting cards and one framable work of art.
P2020: Why do you love teaching art?
TMcC: I love it because I am sharing my passion with someone else. I especially love teaching when I meet students who claim to not have a creative bone in their body. Seeing their creativity blossom and having them walk away having created something they didn’t think possible fills me with such joy.
