Littered Trash Leaves Residents in the Dumps

Thomas Soulière

A reader in the municipality contacted this week to alert us to a litter problem along Stanley Road near the Village of Quyon in ward 3 of the Municipality of Pontiac.

According to the nearby resident, people using the river access at the end of Stanley road have been leaving a large amount of litter on their way on and off the ice of the Ottawa River.  However, Stanley is a private road, adds the resident, and they are concerned that the ongoing trash problem could lead to the road being blocked to restrict access to the resident’s association only, leaving ice-fishing enthusiasts with one less route by which to access the river.

“This is a private road, we don't want to block access.  Already too many [access points to the river] have been blocked.  But please respect our association's property and stop littering!”
