Repairs made to the Luskville Falls area - which required the closure of both the trail and the parking area this spring and summer - are now complete, according to National Capital Commission (NCC) spokesperson Jasmine Leduc.
"All the work that was planned had been completed," she told Pontiac2020.ca this morning. "All the areas of the trail are fully open."
Leduc explained that erosion issues, always a problem in Gatineau Park because of the particular conditions found on the Canadian Shield, necessitated the repairs.
"We did have some erosion problems [so the work was done to] resolve and better protect this sensitive ecosystem," she said."Now it is better protected. We have a passionate team at work out there."
With respect to the fragile soil and plants found on the escarpment, the NCC requests that users always stay on designated trails.
This years' Fall Rhapsody Fair will be held at the base of the Luskville Falls at the end of chemin Hotel-de-Ville in Luskville on Thanksgiving weekend, October 8, 9 and 10.
