Under the Pines Music Festival 2014

Welcome to Under the Pines Music Festival's 2014 summer concert series. General Director, Phillip Holmes and Artistic Director, Jean Desmarais are excited to return to Bristol's Coronation Hall from July 18th to July 27th, after a sold out première season in 2012. This year's summer concert series will include returning favourites such as the 100-Mile Dinner and Concert, catered by Café 349, which will open the festival on Friday, July 18th.

In addition to the rustic beauty and rich acoustics of Coronation Hall, Under the Pines is pleased to have historical St. Mary’s Church in Quyon as a venue for two concerts this year.

AstroPontiac aims to build astronomy park in Pontiac

Ottawa Citizen
Andrew Nguyen

Stephan Paape remembers seeing the twinkle in his daughter’s eye after she discovered the bumpy surface of the moon through a telescope lens.

To peer into the “inky black background of space really puts our own place and the Earth’s place in the universe into perspective,” he said.

Paape, the president of the not-for-profit AstroPontiac, hopes to raise $12,500 by mid-August to build one of the first astronomy parks in the national capital region. The park is expected to be located in Pontiac, Que., roughly a 30-minute drive northwest of Ottawa.
