September 25th, 2014 — Linda Sauvé couldn’t imaging Pontiac without that familiar spot where locals and visitors have been coming to for years.  “This place has been here forever, how could we let it shut down?”  But shut down it did when the tremendous burdens of dealing with a chronic illness in the current economy overwhelmed the prior owners, leaving them with the heartbreaking task of closing their business and leaving a hole in the life of the entire community.

That’s when Linda and daughter Sandra Mankala decided to re-ignite the flame and get one of Pontiac’s hotspots back on track.  “We couldn’t just let it go down like that.  People come from as far away as Rockland to come here and it’s always been a favorite spot for drag racers and spectators from the Luskville Dragway.  Even the Mayors eat here!”

Luskville Sector — Ministry of Transport Québec officials are hopeful that the bypass road being built alongside the washed-out portion of Highway 148 will be ready to go into service later this afternoon, relieving local residents and visitors to the Municipality of Pontiac from the one-and-a-half hour plus detour in effect since Tuesday afternoon.

The bypass lane will accommodate one lane of traffic at a time, alternating directions by way of temporary traffic lights that will be put in place on each end of the newly created bypass lane.

Mayor Roger Larose and Pontiac’s MNA André Fortin were both onsite monitoring the MTQ’s progress and speaking to concerned citizens.

The Ministry of Transport Québec officials advise motorists to monitor the MTQ website for the exact time of the bypass lane opening.
