It is indisputably still cold outside, baby. Éric Hébert-Daly, the new student minister at Quyon United Church, has a new idea to warm all of us up.
On Monday 12, and on every Monday from now, Hébert-Daly will be opening the doors of the church at 1088 Clarendon Street in Quyon (next to the Post Office) between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. to offer warm drinks at no charge.
Written by the wonderful Ian Tamblyn and brought to life by the equally wonderful Theatre Wakefield, A Summer... A Fair is a short play that will stay in your memory forever.
Part historical drama, part musical comedy and 100 percent heart, the play takes place in 1944 at the famed Cantley Picnic.
We have a smooth, fast highway for a country road. Now, at the end of June, when most roads are still pockmarked after the long winter and the rainy spring, we are a ribbon of road that invites stupidity. Some people blame the road, but it is not the road that is dangerous, it's the drivers. They are in an excessive hurry, they pass on double lines and on blind corners, they are on their phones, they've had a few drinks, they are high, they are possibly not even licensed drivers.

ALLUMETTE ISLAND TO OTTAWA
ILE AUX ALLUMETTES A OTTAWA
LUNDI – VENDREDI
MONDAY – FRIDAY
Here is the current schedule for Thom's service from Allumette Island to Ottawa and back. The times are sketchy at best and many of the place names may be out of date.
Congratulations Kate Aley for this wonderful human-interest story!
Our windows are festooned with hanging decorations on the inside (and smeared with eight months of filth outside) but neither of these visual cues stopped this little lovely from ending her life against the glass. I am so sad. She's a Yellow Warbler (Dendroica petechia) as far as I can tell. Larger birds have bumped into our windows, shaken their heads for a bit and flown away but I guess this golden tiny was too tiny. All I can do is share her perfection.
