Pontiacs on the Warpath to Renfrew and Arnprior

After two incredible games last weekend where the Shawville Pontiacs pummeled the Almonte Thunder 11-to-4 before going down to the Ottawa West Golden Knights 2-to-1, Vegas will be on Renfrew home ice this Friday as they take on Valley division 1st place Timberwolves.

After slipping into 4th place in the standings, the Pontiacs spectacularly re-tooled and locked the pieces together and have had an impressive string of wins as they battle their way back to 3rd place.  Still two games behind from scheduling changes, Vegas is poised to close the gap as they play the missing contests and catch up.

Vegas at Home Today for Matinee Tilt against Mustangs

The Pontiac Juniors are back home today to take on the Gatineau Mustangs after a hard-fought heartbreaker Friday night in Perth in an explosive game against a hard-hitting Blue Wings.  Vegas now slides down to fourth place in the Valley division standings.

Today's game will be at 3PM at home in Shawville between the sole two Québec teams in the EOJHL.  The Mustangs are currently in 2nd place just slightly behind first place Ottawa West in the Metro division standings.  This interdivisional match will be crucial for both teams, since it could help notch Gatineau into 1st place or help the Pontiacs climb back up to number three.

Vegas on the Road Tonight in Perth

The Shawville Pontiacs will be hitting the road this evening to take on the Blue Wings for their second match after shutting out Perth 8-to-0 on October 12th in the first match between the clubs this season.

The 6th place Blue Wings are coming off a 13 game losing streak after getting their first win against the Ottawa Junior Canadians Tuesday and will be surely looking to avenge their humiliating defeat at the hands of Vegas.

The Pontiacs however will need this win to break the trend of their three previous losses to solidify their place at number three in the EOJHL Valley division standings.

Game time is 7:30 at the Perth and District Community Center.

Game 11 at Home for Vegas Against the Packers Friday Night

SHAWVILLE — The Pontiacs are back home this Friday, October 31st, to host Arnprior in their second game this season against the Packers.

Looking to reverse the trend of their previous two road game losses last weekend, Shawville will be primed for the win.  They remain squarely positioned in 3rd place in the Valley Division standings, while their top performers continue to deliver on the ice.

Friday evening's game will start at 8pm at the Community Centre at the corner of Campbell and Lang streets in Shawville.

Vegas on the Road this Weekend for a Double Tilt

The Shawville Pontiac Juniors will be on the road this weekend for two important games as they continue to battle their way up the Valley division standings.

Saturday's game, in Almonte at 7:30pm, will pit the Pontiacs against the Thunder on the heels of last week's grinder that had to be decided by a shootout.  With Vegas taking the match, the Thunder will be looking for some payback after last weeks game pushed them further down in the standings and Almonte will be looking to close the gap between themselves in 4th place and Shawville, firmly nested in third.

Then Vegas will be off to Renfrew, to take on their main rivals, the Division's first place Renfrew Timberwolves at 7:30pm Sunday evening.  Whenever these two teams hit the sheet, sparks are bound to fly, resulting in some of the best hockey available anywhere.

Game 8: Pontiac Juniors Play host to Almonte Thunder

SHAWVILLE — Coming off their stellar performance last weekend, Vegas will play host to the 4th place Almonte Thunder tonight at the Shawville Arena to defend their number 3 position in the EOJHL Valley Division standings.

Liam Poirier continues to lead the Metro/Valley divisions in scoring with 11 goals and 6 assists, placing him at the top of the divisions scoring leaders.  Captain Julian Dumont currently resides at number four in points with 5 goals and 10 assists and in third spot in assists, and Lucas Driscoll-McKinnon coming in 5th in assists with 1 goal and 10 assists, placing him at number 22 overall.

Shawville's goaltender Nicholas DesRochers sits at number 2 in goalie leaders and Danick Boisvert in 17th place.

The End of the Shawville Pontiacs

To the Pontiac Juniors supporters and fans:  listen; the upcoming 2014-2015 Season may very well be the end of Junior B Hockey in Shawville. The team doesn’t want to go quietly into the night and their fate will rest in YOUR hands.

Team President Ryan Barber has been with the Juniors for three seasons, and this year there is a challenge forming between the Pontiac Juniors and the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League (EOJHL).

Ryan and the Shawville team are on a mission of raising awareness, because plans are in the works where the EOJHL will no longer exist in the 2015-2016 Season. This is a league where the Pontiac Juniors have been a part of it for 29 years. This is a league that has been around since 1966 and is one of the biggest in Canada.

Waterton Lakes National Park: Avion Ridge

Katharine Fletcher

“Do heights bother you?” asked Alpine Stables’ horse expedition guide Josh Watson? “If not, let’s ride the horses up to Avion Ridge.”

No, heights don’t bother me or my husband Eric Fletcher, so off we went, climbing more than 720 metres to reach this windswept, talus ridge—on horseback! We were in Waterton Lakes National Park, located four hours south of Calgary, in Alberta.

Quyon Clinches 1st Place With Win Over Stittsville

by Moe Laframboise

The Quyon Flyers visited Alexander Grove Park Wednesday night for a Greater Ottawa Fastball League matchup with the 56ers with first place on the line.  The Flyers handed the ball to Matt Greer while Stittsville countered with Darren Featherstone.  Both went the distance in what was not exactly a pitcher’s duel.
