Stephan Paape remembers seeing the twinkle in his daughter’s eye after she discovered the bumpy surface of the moon through a telescope lens.

To peer into the “inky black background of space really puts our own place and the Earth’s place in the universe into perspective,” he said.

Paape, the president of the not-for-profit AstroPontiac, hopes to raise $12,500 by mid-August to build one of the first astronomy parks in the national capital region. The park is expected to be located in Pontiac, Que., roughly a 30-minute drive northwest of Ottawa.

12 week Zumba class in Luskville

Categories:

Hello Everyone

I’m happy to announce that we have enough participants to run the 12 week Zumba class in Luskville!

To those of you who registered in advance…thank you!

If you haven’t registered yet for the 12-week session, it’s not too late! Please arrive 10 minutes early if you still need to register. This will help to ensure our class starts right at 7pm.

Tips for A successful Zumba class:

  • Smile, laugh, be silly, shout, sing.  Zumba is a safe place to let loose. The more energy we create, the more fun we will have together.
  • Dance at your own pace and take breaks when you need them. Listen to your body.
  • When in doubt, just march on the spot!
  • Wear comfortable running shoes and clothing that makes you feel good.
  • Bring plenty of water and drink often!
  • Bring a towel and be prepared to sweat.
  • Try not to be hard on yourself if you are having a hard time following along.  It can take a few classes to get the hang of the choreography.
  • Try not to worry about how you look. Other participants are likely more concerned about how they look than how you look.
  • If you are having a hard time getting certain moves, please feel free to approach me after class and I will be happy to review the steps with you.
  • Remember to have fun!

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to send me an email.

I can't wait to Zumba with you on Thursday...

In good health,

Marianna Vakopoulos OCT, CCC. RHN
