"All the work that was planned had been completed," she told Pontiac2020.ca this morning. "All the areas of the trail are fully open."

This years memorial mass and graveyard service at St. Dominique's Catholic Church in Luskville featured a very special moment. During mass, a donation of $3,013.59 was made by the Golden Eagles Hunting and Fishing Club towards building a columbarium (a special wall to store cremated ashes) within the cemetry grounds.

From left, some of the members of the PMP and Comite 0-5 ans: Mark Bradley with Maxim Beaufort-Bradley, Myriam Pipon, Sylvie L'Heureux, Sophie Hunter and Camille Bradley with Tianna Beaufort-Bradley.

They say it takes a village to raise a child and the Parents de la Municipalite de Pontiac (PMP) are determined to create and support that village. The group, backed by a number of provincially-funded groups as well as other local community partners, held their first Annual General Meeting on August 4 at the Community Centre in Luskville.

Launched mid-June in 2015, the PMP's activities have included dancing lessons, workshops on body image and healthy eating, as well as a story-telling hour and a picnic event. PMP organizers estimate at least 40 to 50 families have been part of this years activities.

A true Eagle

Romeo Belisle has been hassling me about getting the Golden Eagles Hunting and Fishing Club into the news ever since I started working for one of our local publications, probably 2003. This year is the 40th and last year of the Golden Eagles. My hat is off to this remarkable man for his endless hard work, insight, foresight and truly extraordinary determination.

Last week, a series of large, gray boulders were placed along the perimeter of the road leading up the east side of the Luskville Recreation Park in an effort to keep cars in the parking lot and off the grass. A double row of boulders was also added on both sides of the driveway that enters the park directly from the Hwy. 148 across a small causeway.

It was announced at June’s council meeting that the electoral boundaries had been changed for the Municipality of Pontiac (MoP). Pontiac 2020 asked MoP communications officer Dominic Labrie some more questions about the changes.

P2020: Why was it necessary to change the boundaries?

Garden enemy number one: the rose chafer

The first time I saw a rose chafer flying past me, I was actually charmed. So small, so funny, bumbling through the air with an almost velvet-like olive coloured carapace contrasting nicely with comically splayed-out shiny orange legs. That was then.

Snack shacks and highway burger joints can be dime-a-dozen so it takes something special to make one stand out. Fresh food and friendly staff are a great start. Add some cool 50's-themed decor and now you have Chez Sylvie in Luskville. Sylvie Biron and Mark Gricken, both of Luskville, have owned the Casse-Croute at 3000 Hwy 148 for nearly two years.
