For those of you unfamiliar with the series, the Florida Winter Tour is a well organised winter kart racing series established in 1999. In 2013, the series hosted more than 340 drivers from 26 countries, and featured participation from eight reigning and former CIK and Rotax World Champions representing 15 World titles. Recent participants have included F1, Indycar, NASCAR, and Daytona 24 Hour drivers. Needless to say, the competition is fierce, fast, and you guessed it, furious!

Mother of suspected killer Steele-Morin begs him to come home

Says she’s faced death threats since Tricia Boisvert’s homicide in Montreal

By Meghan Hurley, OTTAWA CITIZEN February 6, 2014
OTTAWA — The mother of a Gatineau drug dealer accused of killing 36-year-old Tricia Boisvert in her Montreal apartment has one message for her son: Come home.

Police have accused Philippe Steele-Morin, 30, of killing Boisvert in her Montreal apartment on Jan 17. Her body was found a week later in a wooded area near Quyon, Que.

“I just want it all over. I just want it to end,” the suspect’s mother, Rita Steele, told the Citizen. “It’s not fair to his kids. It’s definitely not fair to me.”

Steele said she knew something was wrong when Gatineau police called her the Saturday after Boisvert disappeared to ask where her son was.

A few days later, Steele found out that Montreal police had named her son as the main suspect in Boisvert’s death. Police have said they believe Steele-Morin was the last person to see Boisvert alive.

“Something went wrong because Philip is not a killer. It doesn’t make sense to me,” Steele said. “I just wish he would come out, because then we would have answers.”

Santa Claus Parade Brings Christmas Cheer to the Municipality of Pontiac

Thomas Soulière

The bone-snapping cold temperatures last Saturday night could not put a chill on the Municipality of Pontiac’s annual Santa Claus Parade held in the Quyon sector, as a very warm and jolly Saint Nick brought joy to all the little hearts that came out to meet him.

Helping to guide Santa along the parade route were the brave firefighters of the Pontiac Fire Department, who handed out treats to everyone along the parade route, while making sure the path was clear for Santa.  As the fire trucks blew their sirens and their flashing lights brightened up nearby buildings, a group of local organizations and residents followed with beautifully decorated floats, cheerfully waving at the crowds.
