Des évacuations obligatoires à Pontiac

Les évacuations obligatoires ont commencé samedi après-midi dans la municipalité de Pontiac.

En entrevue à Radio-Canada, le maire de la municipalité, Roger Larose, a affirmé que rien ne va plus dans sa municipalité, puisque les inondations durent depuis maintenant trois semaines. Les dizaines de millimètres de pluie supplémentaires qui devraient tomber d'ici dimanche lui font craindre le pire.

Red Cross help available for flood victims

Assistance is available for Pontiac residents forced to leave their homes as a result of the dangerously high water level on the Ottawa River.

The Canadian Red Cross are at the Luskville Town Hall to help displaced people find temporary accommodation, plus offering free water and food.

Red Cross agents will be at the community centre from 3 pm to 10 pm tonight (Thursday) and Friday, and from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

23 year-old Jacob Gendron was born and raised in Luskville and has always loved the outdoors. He took that love to the Cégep in St. Felicien near Lac St. Jean to study environment and wildlife management for three years. Now he is back to work for us.
