Wakefield Earth Day program offers green development insights


Wakefield Earth Day has an interesting program this year for those interested in green development. It takes place Friday, April 23rd and Saturday, April 24th at Wakefield Centre, 38 chemin de la Vallée de Wakefield.

Friday, April 23:

5:30 - 7 p.m. -  Discussion of green development in Wakefield South by C. Minnes and architect D. Cardinal

7 - 9 p.m.  -  WIFF screening of Avi Lewis' (+ Naomi Klein's) film, This Changes Everything, plus discussion with local green entrepreneurs. (Tickets available on-line, $10)

Saturday, April 23:

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. - OUTDOOR MARKET (Artisans, Produce & Edibles) + outdoor activities for all ages (including games, tree climbing, art, bike tune-ups for the young).

12:30 – 1 p.m - Presentation and Q & A with Pontiac M.P. Will Amos on “What the Liberal Government and your Local MP are doing on environment, climate/energy, infrastructure and law reform”.

10 - 12 p.m. & 1 - 4 p.m. - WED talks – interesting locals (including Chelsea Mayor Caryl Green) making brief presentations on green topics of personal importance, ending with an illustrate presentation by Benoit Delage (CREDDO) on climate change challenges in the Outaouais.

4 - 5 p.m. - Musical workshop with Ian Tamblyn.
